The Children’s House encompasses six classrooms for students ages 2 ½ to 6 years of age. The classrooms are prepared Montessori environments designed to encourage children in their self-directed discovery of the world. Maria Montessori believed that the years from three to six are the most critical period for nurturing a child’s natural curiosity and for laying the foundation for all future development which is why we strive to constantly create environments that keep this joy of discovery alive.
Our rich learning environments are staffed by skilled, observant teachers whose central mission is to support the unfolding of each individual child’s potential. We recognise that every child is unique, and we are committed to nurturing and respecting those distinctive qualities in each child while guiding them to reach their highest intellectual, emotional and social potential.
(Ages 6 -11)
Our Primary programme provides a rich learning experience for students ages 6 -11 by providing a carefully planned, stimulating environment which helps children to develop habits, attitudes, skills and ideas essential for a lifetime of critical thinking and learning.
Our students are both reflective, balanced and inquirers who take academic risks and constantly seek out knowledge. Above all else, our students at Somersfield Academy are global citizens who show compassion for each other.
Our dedicated teaching faculty are caring and committed to teaching and working for the best interest of their students. All teachers embody Somersfield's Core Values, and Promise and work towards modelling behaviours such as empathy, compassion, and the commitment towards diversity.
Our student-focused, inquiry-based approach provides a balanced, rigorous and engaging educational experience that ensures that our students are prepared for the global stage and can compete at the highest international levels.
Essentially, it is expected that each of our Somersfield Stars will achieve personal excellence– excellence of scholarship, excellence of leadership, excellence of citizenship, and excellence of character.
